Keavy man in critical condition following Monday crash

Date:

A Keavy man was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center Monday morning after his motorcycle collided with a car.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, identified the victim as Richard Cox, 36.

Officials at UK said Tuesday that Cox is listed in critical condition.

Acciardo stated that Cox was traveling north on Rooks Branch Road at approximately 6:40 a.m. when his motorcycle collided with the Saturn Ion driven by Jesse Curry, 28, of Corbin.

“He was on the wrong side of the road,” Acciardo said of Cox adding that the motorcycle turned sideways just prior to the collision.

Curry was not injured in the collision.

Keavy Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County assisted at the scene.
