Laurel deputies ask for public’s help to solve rash of burglaries in Lily

Date:

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help to find the individual(s) responsible for a series of home burglaries in the Lily community.

According to Sheriff John Root at least five residences on Ky. 552 between the Laurel Landfill and Ky. 363 were targeted Wednesday during daylight hours.

The burglar(s) forced doors open to gain entry and then tore through the house in search of money, valuables and drugs.

We found pry marks on the front and back doors of all of the residents that were broken into,” said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer.

In at least one burglary, a safe and guns were taken.

Acciardo said electronics, jewelry and other such items were also taken.

“The burglar or burglars really took stuff that could be grabbed quickly so they could be in and out,” Acciardo said, noting more than $20,000 worth of merchandise was taken from at least one location.

Anyone who may have seen something suspicious in that area or has any information on the burglaries or the perpetrator(s) is asked to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at 606-864-6600 or Laurel County Dispatch at 606-878-7000.

Personal messages may also be sent to the sheriff’s department via the department’s Facebook page.

Callers may remain anonymous.
