London man arrested for robberies at Taco Bell, Cash Express in Corbin

A London man has been arrested in connection with the armed robberies at the Taco Bell restaurant and Cash Express in the Corbin area.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Jason A. Wagers, 34, was arrested Friday night after deputies found him at a residence on Heartmine Road, eight miles south of London.

He has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.

Detectives with the sheriff’s department have been investigating the robberies which occurred on Oct. 28 and June 16, respectively.

Root stated that on Oct. 28 four Taco Bell employees were locked in a freezer after a lone gunman came into the restaurant on Cumberland Gap Pkwy. in North Corbin.

The gunman reportedly fled the scene on foot.

On June 16, a lone gunman came into the store on U.S. 25W and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
