Colleen Lowe reacts to the news that she won the 2016 NIBROC: Just Lose It competition.

Fifty-two-year-old Colleen Lowe lost 46 pounds and gained $1,000 by winning the 2016 NIBROC: Just Lose It weight loss competition.

The Corbin resident beat out 33 other competitors who signed up for the annual event sponsored by Baptist Health Corbin.

“I needed to lose a lot of weight,” Lowe said when asked what led her to enter the competition.

Lowe said she watched what she ate, cutting out soft drinks and chips.

“I would have soft drinks two to three times a day,” Lowe said. “I switched and went with water.”

In addition to the money, Lowe will receive a one-year membership to Baptist Family Fitness.

Lowe said that was another part of her weight loss effort.
“I walked and worked out at Baptist Family Fitness using the treadmill and bicycle,” Lowe said.

Lowe said she plans to use the money to pay off some bills.

Finishing second in the competition was Patricia Couch of Corbin.

Couch won a $250 cash prize and a six-month membership to Baptist.

Finishing third and fourth were Wilma Rapier of Corbin and Kenneth Nunn of Lily.

Each received a $100 cash prize and a three-month membership to Baptist.
