Got a cool idea for a Christmas float for your business, group or organization?
If so, then you may want to start getting ready for the Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission’s 2024 Christmas Parade, which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Applications for the parade must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 6.
Judging will be conducted in three categories: commercial, youth and civic/nonprofit.
Commercial is defined as a business entry. Youth can be any youth organization or group. Civic/Non-Profit are agencies with a 501 C 3 designation, government agencies and departments, civic organizations, churches, etc.
Only floats are judged and eligible for winning, but participants can still enter by festively decorating a vehicle, golf cart, ATV, motorcycle or by walking on foot.
No throwing of candy is allowed from the floats due to safety issues. However, walkers with your float may hand candy to the crowd.
Horses must wear a diaper or be accompanied by a scooper. Horses will be placed at the back of the parade.
For more information about entering the Christmas parade, contact the Corbin Tourism and Convention Office at (606) 528-8860.
To get a copy of the rules and a parade application, go to the Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission Facebook page.
There will be pre-parade festivities on Dec. 7 starting at 5 p.m. in Nibroc Park, which is located at 108 South Main Street.
There will be Christmas caroling, letters to Santa, a photo op with Santa, Christmas card making and more. Free hot chocolate will be provided by Parkway Ministries.
The parade will take place at 7 p.m. along Main Street.
Monday, Dec. 9, will be the alternate time for the parade in the event of inclement weather.
