Richard Smith, 62, of Gatliff Loop Road, Williamsburg, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.
He was born on June 19, 1954 in Detroit, MI to George Dewey Smith and Hazel Marie (Haynes) Smith.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse James Smith; grandson, Mason Dewey Smith; parents, George Dewey Smith and Hazel Marie Smith; and sister, Shirley Deloris Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Durham) Smith; son, Richard Anthony Smith (Angela Bowlin); daughter, Carol Marie Smith (Timmy Bowlin); two grandchildren, Morgan Marie Bixby and Gunner Ray Bowlin; great grandchildren, Alex, JoJo, and Riley Smith; three brothers, Hairm “Fuzz” Smith of Corbin, Mitch Smith (Carla) of Rockholds; and Norman Grubb of North Carolina; two sisters, Judy Grubb and Peggy Clem of Harlan; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 11, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Gray officiating.
He was laid to rest in the Rocksprings Cemetery at Gatliff.
