Rita Vanover Harmon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Vanover Harmon, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Rita passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, in Lexington, KY, at the age of 59.
Rita was born on November 21, 1964, to Bobby and Doris Vanover in Williamsburg, KY.
She was a dedicated health care professional in the nursing industry and touched the lives of many with her compassionate care and kind heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family and profession.
Rita is survived by her companion, Ronnie Harmon; her children, Daniel Powers, Jonathan (Brandy) Vanover and Gregory (Tiffany) Powers, Julie Harmon, Rebecca Sue Harmon, and Katholeen Victoria Abner; her mother, Doris Vanover; her siblings, Craig (Rebecka) Vanover, Bobby (Pam) Vanover, Renea (Raymond) Miller, Rev. Curt (Melissa) Vanover, Chris “Maynard” (Cheri) Vanover, Jenny (Bruce) Freeman, Jenny (Barry) Osborne, Jody (Donnie) Bargo; her abundance of grandchildren who she called her “Little Blessings”, as well as many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Rita enjoyed spending her free time with her “Little Blessings”, vacationing with family and watching crime scene investigating shows.
She was a member of the KayJay Baptist Church. She was also a foster parent to many over the last few years.
The funeral service to honor and celebrate Rita’s life will be held at Croley Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24, at 11:00 am with the Rev. Curtis Vanover and the Rev. David Johnson officiating.
Prior to the service, a public viewing will take place on Friday, August 23, from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
Rita will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
Rita was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Vanover; sister, Cledia Marie Vanover; nephews, Samuel Vanover and Matthew Vanover; sister-in-law, Beverly Vanover; and grandparents, John and Cledia Faulkner and Sol and Dessie Vanover.
