Ruth (Barnes) Johnston

Ruth (Barnes) Johnston, age 87 of Georgetown, OH, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Ohio Valley Manor, Ripley, OH.
Ruth was born March 24, 1935 in Rockholds, KY, the daughter of the late Lewis and Rachel (Engle) Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, William Barnes and Bobby Joe Barnes as well as one sister, Marinell (Freeman) Wolf. Ruth was also proceeded in death by her two sons, Tony (1966) and Buddy Brandenburg (2021).
Ruth is survived by one brother, Tommy Freeman and Donna of Williamsburg, KY; one son, Thomas Johnston, daughter-in-law, Melissa (Alexander) Johnston; grandson, Christopher Johnston and Neesha (Nainee); granddaughter Jackalyn (Johnston) Jones and Nathaniel as well as great-grandson Tatum Jones.
Ruth was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Ripley, OH, and volunteered countless hours at St. Michael Catholic School.
She touched the lives of everyone she encountered and was known for her compassion and kindness. She was intimately involved in the lives of her grandchildren Chris and Jackalyn as well as her great-grandson, Tatum.
Following cremation, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Ruth will be buried alongside her sons, at the Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH.
