Samuel Clay Davis, born November 23, 1929, in Jellico, Tennessee, passed away on May 24, 2025, at the age of 95.
He spent his professional life as an Automotive Tool Die Maker for General Motors and his dedication and skill were evident in his work. In retirement, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and cherished time spent with his family and serving the Lord. He was a devoted member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge 490 F&AM, service in multiple roles over the years. Samuel was a US Army Air Force Veteran and a longtime member at the Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg, KY, where he served various roles including Sunday school director for many years.
Samuel was acting preacher of New Life Baptist Church in Frazier, Michigan.
Samuel was preceded in death by his loving wife, Effie Davis; and children, Kimberly Davis, Gregory Davis, and Samuel Jeffrey Davis; his parents, Claude Davis and Sarah (Jeffries) Davis; and his grandson-in-law, Steve Mayer.
Samuel’s legacy lives on through his brother, Robert Davis of Campton, KY; his step-son, CH (LTC) Arley Longworth and wife Robin; his granddaughters, Christine Mayer of Corbin, KY., Michelle Burton (Gregory) of Verona, KY, and Danielle Halcomb (Tim) of Clinton Township, Michigan; and a host of great-grandchildren, Steve Mayer (Megan), Scott Mayer (Mary), Shelby Burton, Michael Burton (Grace), Savannah Mayer, Samuel Mayer, Adrianna Halcomb, Matthew Halcomb, Joshuah Halcomb, Emma Halcomb; and great-great-grandchildren, Eden Mayer, Maggie Mayer, and Emmett Mayer; special caregivers, Laurie Moses, Linda Lawson, Marsha Elliott, Karen Hollin, and Sharon Logan; and many special friends, nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.
Visitation for Samuel will be held at Croley Funeral Home, 103 South 2nd Street, Williamsburg, KY, on Friday, May 30 at 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 4:00 PM.
Samuel’s life and service to his country will be honored with a Military Graveside Service by the American Legion Post 88 at 5:00 PM. Masonic Service by Williamsburg, Masonic Lodge 490 F&AM will be done at 3:50 PM at the Croley Funeral Home.
Samuel’s life was marked by a quiet strength and unwavering dedication to his family.
