Southeast Kentucky Shows Up Big for the Empty Stocking Fund

Donations to the 2025 Southeast Kentucky Empty Stocking Fund (SEKESF) Christmas program now total $33,953 for the week ending Dec. 27.

This year, the Empty Stocking Fund purchased gifts for 530 children, most of whom received their gifts during the Dec. 20 Christmas party held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Corbin. Less than 10 families didn’t make the party but received their gifts later.

2025 marked 38 consecutive years of service to nearly 20,000 children. The first year the fundraiser provided a Christmas present for approximately 80 children. The program increased substantially until 2007 when it peaked with more than 800 children from 300 families signed up.

The total budget for 2025 was projected to be about $41,500, which included $5,000 for bicycles.
