KSP Officers seize 43 marijuana plants

Kentucky State Police seized 43 marijuana plants while making three arrests Monday afternoon in Whitley County.

KSP Trooper Jeffrey McWhorter charged Joseph C. Moore, 37, of 1253 Letha Petrey Road, with cultivation of marijuana over five plants, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
McWhorter also charged David Morgan, 48, of 1253 Letha Petrey Road, with cultivation of marijuana over five plants, possession of marijuana and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Moore allegedly had six marijuana plants growing in buckets in the backyard of his residence, and had marijuana and pipes in his bedroom, McWhorter wrote on his arrest citation.

McWhorter also located a rifle in the bedroom by the drugs, the citation stated.

Morgan allegedly had 16 marijuana plants growing in the backyard that he helped tend, according to his arrest citation.
Trooper Kyle Moffett charged Melinda Middleton, 20, of 385 Lloyd Meadors Road, with cultivation of marijuana over five plants.

Moffett reported observing the plants at Middleton’s residence, and when he contacted her, Middleton admitted she was growing the plants, according to the arrest citation.

Middleton claimed she was only growing four plants, but the final count put the total at 21 and there were nail boards lining the path, Moffett wrote.
