Two local people were arrested Tuesday at a Corbin motel for drug trafficking and marijuana possession.
According to Corbon Police, 50-year-old Timothy Long, of Lily, and 65-year-old Marion Profitt, of Corbin, were arrested at the Economy Inn in Main Street following an undercover purchase of drugs by a confidntial informant working with police.
Following the purchase of "Schedule 2 narcotics" from the duo, police obtained a search warrant for the motel room where the two had been staying. Officers found narcotics and marijuana. Both Long and Profitt were arrested without incident. They were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance second-degree (second offense), trafficking in marijuana less than eight ounces, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
Both were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Corbin Police Sgt. Glenn Taylor made the arrests and is continuing an investigation into the case. Assisting officers included: Col. David Maiden, Maj. Rob Jones, Ptl. Jeff Hill nd Ptl. Wade Mitchell.
