Vehicle fire threatens apartment

Date:

Lily and West Knox firefighters called to battle a vehicle fire Saturday found themselves fighting to keep it from spreading to a nearby apartment building.

Firefighters were paged to a report of a vehicle fire at Stony Ridge Apartments on American Greeting Card Road at approximately 5:20 p.m.

However, when firefighters arrived they found not only the Ford F-150 burning, but a Chevrolet Cavalier parked next to it.

“It was the heat that caused the fire to spread,” said Lily Fire Captain Megan Jones.

Siding on the apartment building was melted and warped from the heat of the fire but firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to the structure..

Jones said no one was injured

Firefighters were on the scene until approximately 7 p.m.

Jones said the cause of the fire is unknown. Someone was working on the truck at the time.
