After a special-called meeting at city hall Thursday evening, the Williamsburg Board of Zoning Adjustment voted unanimously to approve the permit for a planned 55-year old and up housing development to be located off of 2nd Street near downtown.
The current property owner, Joe Hall of Cutting Edge Landscaping, and the executive director of Cumberland Valley Regional Housing, Leighann Corey, were present at Thursday’s meeting to field several questions from concerned citizens. After roughly an hour of Q&A the board closed the meeting to public comments and discussed the matter amongst themselves, ultimately voting unanimously in favor of approving the permit.
Although this has brought the development one step closer to becoming a reality, Hall explained that it would probably be at least February of next year before final word is received on whether or not the submitted application to proceed has been approved. If approved, he said it would be another year-and-a-half before the housing units would be constructed and ready for tenants.
