As Whitley County’s baseball program prepares for the upcoming season, they welcome a new head coach who is quite familiar with the existing program. Whitley County High School Principal, Alan Sweet announced today that longtime assistant coach Kyle Adams has been named the new head coach for the Whitley County Boy’s Baseball Program.
“Coach Adams exhibits a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom. I have confidence that he will inject his energy and excitement into the existing program,” said Whitley County High School Principal, Alan Sweet.
Adams has served as head coach for the Whitley County Middle School Boy’s Baseball Program for the last 3 years. He served as the Whitley County High School Boy’s Baseball Program Assistant Coach for four years prior to his role at WCMS. He will be filling the position vacated by Coach Burton Richardson, who resigned for personal reasons.
As an athlete himself, Adams played on the boy’s varsity baseball team at Paintsville High School for five years. “I am honored to be named the new head baseball coach. I want to be competitive in every opportunity we have when we have the Colonel uniform on. Whether it’s practice, an inning or an entire game, I want everybody to know we’re going to go out and give it our all. I am really excited for the challenge, and will focus the entire coaching staff on developing the players’ winning work ethic, attitude and overall character on and off the field,” stated Adams.
“Coach Adams has high standards and the ability to move forward with the existing team. His experiences and passion for baseball will greatly benefit his student athletes,” stated Whitley County Athletic Director, Mike Campbell.
Coach Adams currently teaches Mathematics at Whitley County High School. He resides in Corbin, KY with his wife Judy and is the proud father of one daughter, Isabella.
