A Williamsburg woman was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center early Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle accident.
The accident happened about 1 a.m. on 11th Street.
Glenn Willmore Jr. of 645 Croley Bend Road, Williamsburg, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet truck south on 11th Street when he crossed into the northbound lane of travel. He struck a 2000 Chrysler minivan, which was driven by Patricia Moses of 350 South
Second Street, Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird wrote in a press release.
Both drivers suffered injuries.
Whitley County EMS transported Willmore to Baptist Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Williamsburg Fire and Rescue spent about 10 minutes extricating Moses from her vehicle, according to Williamsburg Fire Chief James Privett.
Firefighters set up an emergency-landing zone at Kentucky Splash Waterpark and an Air Evac. Lifeteam emergency medical helicopter landed and transported Moses to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Neither drug nor alcohol involvement are suspected factors at this time, Bird said.
Police are still investigating to determine whether speed played a factor, but Bird said that he doesn’t anticipate any charges being filed in connection with the accident.
Williamsburg Police Officer Brandon White is still investigating the case and was also assisted at the scene by KSP Trooper Tony Dingess and members of Williamsburg Fire and Rescue and Whitley County EMS.
