A three-day tire amnesty event held by the Whitley County Fiscal Court and the Kentucky Division of Waste Management at the Williamsburg/Whitley County Airport Thursday, Friday and Saturday has resulted in the collection of at least 15,000 tires that have already been hauled off for proper disposal.

A total of 10 semi-truck loads of tires were hauled away through Saturday and workers are still in the process of disposing of numerous other tires well into Tuesday.
