Early in-person voting set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Date:

Whitley County voters will go to the polls to cast their ballots in the Republican and Democratic presidential primary elections next Tuesday, May 21, but all voters will have the chance to vote in-person early on either Thursday, Friday or Saturday in Whitley County.

Early in-person voting can be done either at the clerk’s office in the old courthouse in Williamsburg, or at the old Corbin City Hall.

Early voting will take place from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Election Day, which is Tuesday, May 21, at one of nine voting centers, including locations at Williamsburg Independent School, Whitley County High School, Pleasant View Elementary School, Whitley East Elementary School, Whitley North Elementary School, Oak Grove Elementary School, Corbin City Hall, Corbin Primary School, and Sanders Creek Church of God, which is in the Canadatown area.

Previously, you could only cast your Election Day ballot at your voting precinct out of which there were 36 located in Whitley County, but now you can cast your Election Day ballot at any of the nine voting centers.

A light voter turnout is expected with only three races on the ballot in Whitley County, including the Republican and Democratic presidential primary races. Incumbent Democrat President Joe Biden and former Republican President Donald Trump have both already secured enough delegates to clinch their respective party’s presidential nomination.

The only other race on the ballot is the Republican Primary for Fifth District Congressional race where long-time incumbent Hal Rogers will face opposition from Dana Edwards, Brandon Monhollen and David E. Kraftchak Jr.
