2024 NIBROC musical acts announced

Date:

Rhythm City Groove

With this year’s Annual NIBROC Festival just a couple of weeks away, announcements regarding the musical entertainment are being released.

Friday, Aug. 9, will feature two bands who are familiar to the NIBROC scene in Pistol Whip and Rhythm City Groove. Pistol Whip is described as a “high energy rock n’ roll band with classic and southern rock influences.” Their debut single, titled “The Hood,” was awarded Best of the Year honors by Cowboy Joe Radio in Sheridan, Wyoming. It also landed the band on Capture Kentucky’s list of Best Unsigned Bands.

Rhythm City Groove, based out of Lexington, have made a name for themselves thanks to their unique brand of “house-rockin, rump-shakin, roadhouse rhythm and blues.”

RCG is influenced by everything from “Motown to Muscle Shoals,” with a sound that mixes old school and new school. Some of the all-time great artists covered by the band include: Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, the Temptations and much more.

Saturday evening’s main event will be the Sidewinders, a band that also promises to treat festivalgoers to a wide range of classic hits from the rock n’ roll and R&B genres. Vocalist Lisa Oliver-Gray is a Kentucky native currently living in Nashville who has collaborated with many prolific artists during her musical career. Fellow vocalist Billy Duvall, Jr. is an acclaimed gospel singer holding degrees from Berea College. Guitarist and vocalist John McCracken has a twenty-year history with Orchestra Kentucky.

Another guitarist and vocalist, Bhrett Puckett, also has experience with Orchestra Kentucky, as does keyboardist Adrian Heil and percussionist Webb Hendrix. Sidewinders bassist, Dave Allen, has been playing for over five decades.

Enjoy these bands and more when the Annual NIBROC Festival takes over downtown Corbin Aug. 7-10, and look inside next week’s edition of the News Journal for information on other musical acts who are scheduled to perform!
