Cleo Wayne Gibson was born on June 27, 1949, in Jellico, Tennessee to Jim and Freda (Webb) Gibson.
Wayne spent his life in service to others, making an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Wayne served his community for over 30 years as a firefighter with Rockhold Volunteer Fire Department, a testament to his dedication and courage. His commitment extended beyond his profession, as he was a proudly retired US Army veteran.
Wayne’s life was enriched by the love of his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 44 years, Goldie Darlene (Jones) Gibson of Williamsburg, KY, and his loving daughter, Ida Sizemore (Justin Mattie) of Williamsburg, KY. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Julia, Nathaniel, Christopher, Ethan, Joshua, Joselynn, Zayden, and Ayden, who will always remember their grandfather’s limitless love and support. A special family member ‘bonus daughter,’ Elizabeth Paul (Lonnie) of Williamsburg, KY. Wayne is survived by siblings, Mary Kersey, Linda Williamson, Finley Gibson, Louis Gibson, and Charles Gibson all of Williamsburg, KY. Wayne also is survived by several nieces nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Freda Gibson; his son, William Jones; and his siblings, James Gibson, Bud Gibson, and Shirley Sawyers.
The visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home, located at 103 South 2nd Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky.
The funeral service will follow on Saturday, October 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Canada officiating.
The burial will take place in the Croley Addition Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg, KY following the service.
