A 16-year-old is being held in a juvenile detention facility after allegedly stabbing another 16-year-old Thursday night during an incident in southern Laurel County.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective Taylor McDaniel placed a 16-year-old male juvenile in custody after deputies were dispatched at 9:17 p.m. to a stabbing complaint off American Greeting Card Road about nine miles south of London.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that allegedly a 16-year-old male had stabbed another 16-year-old male in the back with a knife multiple times causing serious physical injury to the victim, according to a Laurel County Sheriff’s Office release.
Deputies haven’t determined a motive yet.
The victim was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington in critical condition.
The 16-year-old suspect has been charged with first-degree assault and was detained in the Breathitt County juvenile detention facility.
Other sheriff’s detectives and deputies assisted at the scene.
