Emily Roberts officially installed as executive director of Corbin Tourism

Date:

The Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission has appointed Emily Roberts as its permanent executive director, following a special-called meeting on Dec. 5.

Roberts, who previously served as interim director, said the board met virtually via Microsoft Teams and officially offered her the position, which she accepted.

“I am just so very honored that they have entrusted this position to me,” said Roberts. “I love Corbin, and I think that it is so special and it has so much to offer.”

Looking ahead, Roberts said her top priorities include continuing work on the city’s Railroad Museum project and further expanding her expertise in the tourism and travel industry.

“I’ve been attending our regional tourism meetings,” said Roberts. “Also, meetings through the Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA), and now I can participate in the Kentucky Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (KACVB).”

Roberts said her goal is to continue promoting Corbin as a destination that is “worth visitors’ time, energy, and resources to experience.”

In other business, board members discussed proposals for a rebrand and website rebuild, but no decisions were made.

Roberts encouraged local community members to visit the office.

“We are here in the L&N train depot, and we are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” said Roberts. “We just want to be here as a resource for our community, and we’d love to have them come visit us.”
