The Whitley County Sheriff’s race now has five candidates, including incumbent Lawrence Hodge.
Hodge filed to run for re-election shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday nearly two hours before the filing deadline.
Jim Morgan also filed to run for sheriff in the Republican primary Tuesday. Three other candidates are also in the race including former Sheriff Ancil Carter, retired Kentucky State Police Detective Colan Harrell and former constable Billy Rowe.
