Owner cited after pitbull attacks man walking dog in Corbin

A Corbin woman was cited to Whitley District Court last Friday after her pit bull dog attacked a man and his dog that were walking along 17^th Street.

Corbin Police Major Rob Jones, the department’s public affairs officer, said Lt. James Miller cited Samieyra Spicer, of 401 17^th, Street for one count of harboring a vicious animal.

Police were called to the scene near Corbin Intermediate School at about 5:25 p.m.

The victim of the attack, James Hill, of Corbin, told police that he was walking his dog on the sidewalk near the school across the street from Spicer’s home.

“The porch was kind of fenced in,” Miller said.

“Hill’s dog started barking and Spicer tried to hold the pit bull back but couldn’t.”

Miller said the pit bull bit Hill’s dog multiple times and bit Hill as he attempted to get it off of his dog.

Miller said the pit bull remains with Spicer as neither Corbin Police nor Whitley County Animal Control have the facilities to quarantine the dog.

Under Kentucky Law, the charge is a misdemeanor carrying a potential sentence of up to one year in jail.
