A 15-year-old was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and a Williamsburg man was taken to jail Sunday following a collision involving a car and a dirt bike on Devil’s Creek Road.
Law enforcement and emergency personnel were called to the scene near the intersection with U.S. 25W at approximately 2:35 p.m.
Oak Grove Fire Chief Kevin Gibbs said the teen was taken by ambulance to the Williamsburg/Whitley County Airport and then airlifted to UT.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Strunk stated in the arrest citation, that the driver of the 2001 Pontiac, identified as Takota Shipman, 19, had fled the scene on foot, but returned a short time later with his mother.
Shipman was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and no operator’s license.
In addition, he was served with an outstanding warrant charging him with third-degree criminal mischief for allegedly slashing the tire of a vehicle parked at Baptist Health Corbin.
Whitley EMS also responded to the scene.
