W’burg Little League programs holding sign-ups on March 5, March 12 at Tourism Center

Date:

The Williamsburg Little League Program will be holding sign-ups on Saturday, March 5, and Saturday, March 12, at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center for the upcoming season. The sign-ups will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. each of those days.

Age groups include:

• Weeball 3-4

• Teeball 5-6

• Coach pitch 7-8

• Major League 9-10 or 11-12

• Softball – girls same age groups.

• Jr. League 13-14

• Sr. League 15-16

This will be the first year for the Jr. League and the Sr. League.

“We are trying to get the word out, so that middle school and high school kids can play locally and play a bit longer under our charter. We are just trying to expand the league,” said Darian Brown, a Williamsburg Little League official.

Brown said that volunteers are also desperately needed for concessions, umpires, field maintenance, score keeping, bookkeeping, coaches, assistant coaches and board members.

He added that Jellico and McCreary County residents are also encouraged to play in the Williamsburg Little League as well as they fall within Williamsburg’s boundaries because there is no Little League charter in either place.
