I-75 asphalt rehab project in Laurel, Whitley counties starts Monday, July 18

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) crews began an asphalt rehabilitation project on I-75 in Whitley and Laurel counties on Monday, July 18, between the two Corbin exits.

The project area will extend from mile point 24.73 in Whitley County to mile point 29.00 in Laurel County.

Preparation for the asphalt work will include shoulder closures in various locations on both northbound and southbound sides of the interstate. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph, which officers will be enforcing with double fines for violations.

The entire asphalt project is tentatively scheduled to end on Nov. 15.

KYTC District 11 is responsible for maintaining state highways in Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Leslie and Whitley counties.
