Donnie R. Witt, age 88, of Williamsburg, KY passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born July 11, 1934 in Emlyn, KY to the late Everett and Elizabeth Sullivan Witt.
Donnie worked for the CSX Railroad for 39 years. He was the mayor of the City of Williamsburg for four years starting in 1986 until 1989. He also served on the Williamsburg City Council for six years. He was a member and a deacon at First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Witt of Williamsburg, KY; two sons, Donnie Ray Witt (Ginny) of Knoxville, TN, and Mike Harmon (Kenny Branscomb) of Claxton, TN; one daughter, Sandy Harmon of Williamsburg, KY; six grandchildren, Charlie E. Witt (Megan) of Knoxville, TN, Geoffery Witt (Misty) of Williamsburg, KY, Daniel Witt of Knoxville, TN, Kimberly Swanner of Williamsburg, KY, Bruce Swanner (Larianne) of Rocky Top, TN, and Brandon Swanner (Lindsay) of Carlisle, KY; eight great-grandchildren, Everett Witt, Olivia Witt, Gunnar Morgan, Brinna Morgan, Damien Swanner, John Swanner, Eli Swanner, and Daisie Swanner; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rogers of Williamsburg, KY; special cousin, Eddie Sullivan (Penny) of Corbin, KY; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at First Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be private with Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating.
Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Campbell, Scott Cooper, Carmack Kersey, Kevin Lowrie, David Lennon, and Roger Jones.
