Baptist Health Corbin receives 2025 Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award

Baptist Health Corbin is proud to announce that it has been honored with the 2025 Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Award in the Acute Care Hospitals with 250+ Beds category.

This prestigious recognition acknowledges the hospital’s unwavering commitment to improving patient outcomes through an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing care for patients with severe sepsis and septic shock in the Emergency Department, Baptist Health Corbin wrote in a release.

The award-winning project at Baptist Health Corbin has significantly reduced mortality rates among sepsis patients, surpassing national compliance goals. By implementing evidence-based protocols, streamlining early detection processes, and fostering enhanced multidisciplinary collaboration, the hospital has achieved remarkable success in improving survival rates and overall patient care.

“We are truly honored to receive the 2025 KHA Quality Award,” said Carrie Davis, Sepsis Coordinator at Baptist Health Corbin. “This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our team in providing the highest standard of care for our patients. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition, and through this initiative, we have made significant advancements in early detection and treatment, ultimately saving lives.”

As one of the leading causes of hospital mortality, sepsis demands prompt and effective intervention. Baptist Health Corbin’s initiative focused on rapid screening, timely administration of antibiotics, and strict adherence to sepsis care bundles, ensuring that patients received the right care at the right time.

This award highlights Baptist Health Corbin’s continued commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. As a leader in quality improvement, the hospital continues to set new standards in emergency and critical care, benefiting the Corbin community and beyond, the hospital wrote in a release.
