Baptist Health Corbin recently spotlighted employee Kim Jones, one of its most dedicated and compassionate mammographers.
Born and raised in London and Corbin, Jones has spent most of her life in this area. She is deeply rooted in her community, where she and her husband have lovingly raised two daughters.
Her journey with Baptist Health Corbin began while she was still in college, working as an X-ray file clerk. In 1989, she took the next step in her career by enrolling in radiologic technology school, and shortly after, she earned her mammography registry when the field became regulated by the FDA. Since then, she has devoted her career to providing high-quality mammograms and compassionate patient care—an impressive legacy that spans more than three decades.
As a mammographer, Jones performs both screening and diagnostic mammograms and assists radiologists with biopsies. But for Jones, her work is about far more than technology—it’s about people.
“A big part of my role is patient care,” Jones said. “Reassuring patients, answering their questions, and helping them feel at ease. I’m proud knowing that the work I do contributes to early detection and better outcomes.”
Over the years, Jones has witnessed remarkable growth in her field. From the early days of seeing just a few patients a day to now being part of a fully accredited breast center—with two off-site locations serving patients from across southeastern Kentucky and into Tennessee—she takes great pride in how far the program has come.
Jones carries countless memories of the women she’s cared for and is grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in their lives. Reflecting on her career, she shared “My perspective has shifted from mastering a job to building a career with purpose—and now, to embracing a calling that combines technical expertise with compassion, patient care, and mentorship.”
Outside of work, Jones enjoys going to church, shopping, watching game shows and Christmas movies, and spending time with her family. She’s also an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and loves to unwind by going on cruises.
“Kim, thank you for your years of service, dedication, and kindness. Your commitment to your patients and to Baptist Health Corbin inspires all of us. We’re so proud to have you as part of our team!” Baptist Health Corbin wrote in a release.
Baptist Health Corbin is a 273-bed, acute care facility providing a wide variety of healthcare services to residents of Whitley, Knox, Laurel, Bell, Clay, Harlan and McCreary counties in Kentucky and Campbell County in Tennessee.
