Wanda June Gabbard, 86, of Emlyn, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Williamsburg Health and Rehab Center in Williamsburg. She was born on November 13, 1931 to the late Robert Blanton and Martha Ellen (Lewis) Blanton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dempsey Gabbard and two sons, Terry Lynn and Jack Dempsey, Jr.. She was also preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. Glen Alan Onkst, former City Commissioner and business owner, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the age of 61. Glen Alan Onkst began his career working at his family’s business “Piggly Wiggly” in Corbin, then went on and passionately pursued many careers, including working for the  Corbin Police Dept., Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, and owning his own business, “Freshmart Food Mart.” He also served for many years on the Corbin Tourism Committee, Varsity Club, and refereed area football games for over 30 years with his loving football crew. She was employed for 10 years at Baptist Health Corbin, and 10 years at Jackson MSC ware washing systems as a certified welder. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Oscar and Myrtle Messer, Jewell Daniels and Cecil Daniels.
