Virgil E. Johnson, 82, of 1921 Hwy 1804, Williamsburg, passed away on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at his residence. Virgil was retired for the United States Army with 22 years of service. He attained the rank of Sergeant Major (E-9). He proudly served his country and was recognized for his service with many decorations and medals. Virgil received the National Defense Service Medal, The Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Meritorious Service Medal and Good Conduct Metal. Betty Ann Skidmore Daniel, 86, of Jellico, passed peacefully to our Heavenly Father on Friday, August 31 from the care of the Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Nora Skidmore, and siblings Bill, Wanda, and Sue. Betty is survived by her husband Bob, to whom she was married for 66 years, son Ray, and sister Joy. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and quiet ways will be missed by all who knew her. James Carl Jones, 89, of Corbin passed away Saturday morning, September 1, 2018, at Continue Care Hospital. He was the husband of the late Edith Ann Jordan Jones, who passed away February 1, 2018. Carl was a member of First United Methodist Church now Grace on the Hill, where he was a choir member, board and committee member, and enjoyed participating in church drama productions. Billy Ray Brown, 70, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at Baptist Health in Richmond. Billy is survived by his brother Bobby Brown. Betty Caldwell Dalton, 76, wife of the late Jim Dalton of Adams Road, Corbin, passed away on Wednesday morning at her residence. The family followed her wishes and chose cremation. There will be NO SERVICES. Laurel Funeral Home was honored to be of service to the Dalton family.

Florencetta “Flo” Marie Lewis, 58, of Jackson, KY, formerly of Corbin, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at her home. She was born in Corbin, a daughter of the late Oscar Lewis and Lois Jackson Lewis. She was district manager for Wendy’s. Flo is survived by her siblings: Brenda Wilson, Vernon Lewis, Eugene Lewis, Benny Lewis, and Janice Lewis; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who all said she was the best aunt ever.
