Celebrating a lifetime of memories together, Maxine and Eldred Von Gruenigen will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on April 22, 2020. They were married April 22, 1950.

Wayne and Sharon Jean (Gibbs) Prewitt were united in marriage on June 20, 1969, in Corbin, Kentucky. The Prewitts reside in Williamsburg. They are both members of the Goldbug Missionary Baptist Church. Wayne is also a Deacon of the church.

Rev. Thomas and Sue Matney celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Merry Jeffries Community Center. With their closest friends and relatives present, the celebration included a vow renewal performed by their long-time friend, Rev. Stanley Taylor. During their 60 years of marriage, they have been blessed with three children: Mary Ann Hughes (Tommy), Donna Bunch (Dennis) and Tommy Matney (Deanna). They have six grandchildren, Kristy Ann Brown (Russell), Joshua Matney (Julie-Beth), Breanna Bunch, Lauren Matney, Christian Ross, Isaac Matney and a great-grandson, Caleb Brown. When asked their secret to 60 years of wedded bliss, they replied, “It’s no secret. It’s simple, finding and following God!”

Calvin and Yvonne Hampton will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary on June 14th, 2019. In honor of this event, a reception will be held at the Friendship House Community Room on Saturday, June 15th from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited.

Steve and Becky Sears of Williamsburg, Kentucky announce the engagement of their daughter Kristin Brooke Sears to Alex Wilde, son of Jim and Sherry Anthony of Buena Vista, Georgia. Kristin and Alex met at Savannah College of Art and Design where they both graduated in 2014 with bachelors of Fine Art degrees. They both now work as Imagineers at the Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Florida where Kristin is a Product Developer and and Alex is a Product Designer. The wedding will take place at The Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum in Savannah, Georgia on October 26, 2019.

John and Jerri Shotwell of Lexington celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family at the Boone Tavern restaurant in Berea on Thanksgiving Day. They were married by the late Rev. Dr. Don Herren, a Corbin native, on Nov. 22, 1968, in Danforth Chapel on the campus of Berea College where both graduated earlier that year. Jerri was born Geraldine Cochrane in London, Ky., the daughter of Delbert and Lucy Cochrane, and graduated from London H.S. in 1964 as valedictorian.
