Defending 50th District Champion Corbin begins season Thursday

The Corbin Redhounds Baseball team is coming off a 2021 season that saw them win 26 games and the 50th District title before falling to Jackson County in the 13th Region Tournament. The race to unseat 13th Region Baseball Champion Whitley County has begun as teams across the area take to the field this week in hopes of playing at Legends Field for the state title. The Williamsburg Little League Program will be holding sign-ups on Saturday, March 5, and Saturday, March 12, at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center for the upcoming season. Girls’ basketball season heats up

The Whitley County Lady Colonels are now 2-1 on the season after defeating Madison Southern Friday and losing to Mercer County Saturday. “Its been a good start,” said Coach Sean Pigman. “The kids are really buying in and working hard.” The Lady Colonels defeated Madison Southern at home, 43-41. The 2021 Whitley County High School Baseball Team did something that no other team in Whitley County history has ever done. It won the region and the first round of the state baseball tournament advancing as far as the Elite Eight where their dream season ended. Lynn Camp High School now has a new head baseball coach. Evan Lay was introduced as Lynn Camp’s new head coach during a press conference Wednesday afternoon. “I just want to thank God for this opportunity. The Whitley County Colonels’ baseball season came to an end last Thursday with a 4-2 loss to Lyon County in the KHSAA Elite Eight. Whitley County fans sent the high school baseball team off to the state tournament Wednesday with Colonel pride. Fans lined both sides of the street to cheer on the team who was escorted through the town. The Colonels are three games away from the school's first baseball state title.
