This time last year Peyton Buford was on his way to becoming 2016 News Journal All-County Player of the Year by helping the Corbin Redhounds to a 22-15 season, including a 50th District championship and an appearance in the semifinals of the 13th Region tournament.
Now a freshman at Alice Lloyd College, Buford is finding a way to contribute to the Eagles baseball program. He recently spoke about his experiences for this special feature story.

UPDATE: The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets (4-4) fell to visiting Middlesboro 15-3 Thursday evening in the championship game of this year's 13th Region All "A" tournament.
Middlesboro took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Williamsburg was able to tie the game up at 3-3 after two runs were walked in and sophomore Hunter Brown knocked in another in the bottom of the inning.

Sophomore Whitley County Colonel Neel Patel and sophomore Corbin Redhound Trey Cima are about to head overseas to represent their state and their country in Holland as members of Kentucky Youth Soccer’s Boys Olympic Development Team.
Patel and Cima will be departing the United States for Europe later this week, and are scheduled to return on Sunday, April 9.
While in Holland, Patel and Cima will train and compete alongside other players in the Olympic Development Program, and they will also have the exciting opportunity to pick up knowledge from members of the professional soccer club Feyenoord Rotterdam.

The Corbin tennis program is off to another fantastic start in 2017, with both the boys and the girls teams hopeful of adding more regional championship trophies to their already impressive collection.

This time last year Jaclyn Jewell was competing as a senior member of the Corbin High School tennis team. Along with her doubles partner, Ellie Jane Carloftis, she would go on to finish in the top eight at the 2016 KHSAA state championships – the farthest she had ever advanced in all her years competing at the state level, both as a middle school and a high school athlete.

On June 1, 2017 Corbin’s own Rodger Bird will join the likes of Muhammad Ali, Adolph Rupp, Joe B. Hall, Johnny Unitas and Secretariat when he becomes one of the newest members of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame.
Bird, who graduated from Corbin High School in 1962, was twice named to the All-State list as a Redhound football player. In 1960 he helped lead the team to an undefeated season.
