W’burg Little League programs holding sign-ups on March 5, March 12 at Tourism Center

The Williamsburg Little League Program will be holding sign-ups on Saturday, March 5, and Saturday, March 12, at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center for the upcoming season. The sign-ups will be from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. each of those days. Cumberland Freewill Baptist Church won the 2021 Williamsburg Mens Summer Softball League with a record of 18-3. The team from Tim Smith Construction finished second with a record of 17-4.

Corbin Softball’s season comes to end with region loss to North Laurel

The 2021 softball season came to an end for the Corbin Lady Redhounds Tuesday night with 9-0 loss to North Laurel in the 13th Region Semifinals. The Lady Jaguars got going in the first inning by pushing across one run in the top of the first inning against starting pitcher Shelby Stewart. 13th Region Softball Tournament moving to University of the Cumberlands

The 13th Region softball road to Lexington has moved from Harlan County to Williamsburg. Following the postponement of Monday night’s semifinals games because of weather, the remaining games will be played at the University of the Cumberlands beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Corbin Lady Redhounds will face off against North Laurel in the first game, while South Laurel will play Knox Central in the second game. The Corbin Lady Redhounds Softball team will be back on the field at 5:30 p.m Monday against North Laurel in the 13th Region semifinals. The Corbin Lady Redhounds Softball team will open the 13th Region tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday against 52nd District Champion Middlesboro. The winner will move on to play the winner of North Laurel versus Lynn Camp at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the region semifinal. “This is when it has to come together and I believe they need to keep doing what they are doing,” said Corbin Coach Crystal Stidham. Williamsburg Softball season ends with loss to South Laurel in district tournament

The season came to an end for the Williamsburg Lady Jackets softball team Monday afternoon with a 15-1 loss to South Laurel in the opening round of the 50th District Tournament. South Laurel put up 12 runs in the first two innings, while holding Williamsburg to a single base runner in that period. Williamsburg got on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Keely Bisschop led off the inning by reaching first base on an error, and later advanced to second on a passed ball, and then to third on a single by McKenzie Prewitt.
