Alicyn Croley signs to play volleyball at Transylvania University

Whitley County High School senior Alicyn Croley signed her letter of intent on March 24 to play for Transylvania University next season. Croley started playing volleyball in the fifth grade. She was a three year starter on the high school volleyball team. Corbin wins regional volleyball title Thursday in Bell Co.

Your Corbin Lady Hounds are once again champions of the 13th Region after their defeat of Whitley County Thursday night at Bell County High School. The Hounds won this year's regional championship contest 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-10, 25-20), improving them to 14-5 on the season. Meanwhile, the Lady Colonels ended their 2020 campaign with an overall record of 14-4. Governor Beshear not overruling KHSAA, fall sports set to begin in two weeks

After last week’s ruling from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association that they would move forward with their plan to begin fall athletics in early September, there was much speculation about whether Gov. Andy Beshear would override the decision during his Monday press briefing. KHSAA Board of Control votes to stay the course with current plan for fall sports, practices to being Aug. 24

At its Board of Control meeting Thursday morning, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association discussed the possibility of adopting further changes to the 2020 fall sports season. In the end, however, the board voted to keep the current plan in place that would have athletes being able to officially begin practices on Monday, August 24. KHSAA approves Sept. 11 start date for football games, Sept. 7 for cross county, soccer and volleyball matches

In a nearly three-hour online board of control meeting Tuesday, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association has outlined how school sports should proceed as we enter into the fall season. KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett spoke early on during Tuesday’s meeting saying that he and other association officials have been closely monitoring all data concerning COVID-19 in the state. With a 3-1 victory over South Laurel Thursday evening at Knox Central High School in Barbourville, the Corbin Lady Hounds volleyball team won its third consecutive 13th Region championship title. The Lady Hounds defeated Oneida Baptist Institute 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-15) on Tuesday, and the tournament host Lady Panthers 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-9) on Wednesday to earn their spot in this year's regional finals. As reported in the October 23, 2019 print edition of the News Journal, the Corbin Lady Hounds faced South Laurel Tuesday night for this year's 50th District volleyball title, while the Lynn Camp Lady Cats met Knox Central in the finals of the 51st District tourney. The Lady Hounds were able to overcome the Lady Cardinals at SLHS 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-22), improving to 22-8 on the season. 2019 FIRST PRIORITY CLASSIC: Lady Colonels finish runner-up, Cumberland Homeschool impresses

The 2019 Lady Colonels First Priority Volleyball Classic was held last Friday and Saturday at Whitley County Middle and High Schools.
