Corbin girls fall to SL in 50th District tournament final

After a 44-27 loss to South Laurel Thursday evening at Willamsburg High School, the Corbin Lady Hounds will enter this year’s 13th Region tournament as the 50th District runner-up.

Thursday’s loss to the Lady Cardinals in this year’s district title game dropped Corbin to 18-10 on the season. They will learn this weekend who they will face in the first round of the 2025 13th Region tournament, being held next week at the Corbin Arena.

The News Journal will provide additional information on this year’s 13th Region championship tournaments as soon as that information is made available.

2025 50th District finals:

South Laurel 44, Corbin 27

S. Laurel – 15  5  11  13  –  44

Corbin – 10  7  4  6  –  27

SLHS – Jamie Buenaventura 13, Maci Messer 10, Callie Jones 11, Peyton Mabe Mabe 10

CHS – Kylie Clem 6, Raegan Walker 9, Lydia King 2, Addy Wilson 8, Kalley Stewart 2

At the conclusion of Thursday’s championship contest, this year’s 50th District All-Tournament team selections were announced. All-Tournament team members were: Presley Spicer and Ellie Breeding (Williamsburg); Khylea Ray Collier and Aubree Clemens (Whitley Co.); Kylie Clem, Raegan Walker and Addy Wilson (Corbin); and Callie Jones, Aubrey Bundy, Maci Messer and Jamie Buenaventura (South Laurel). South Laure’s Peyton Mabe was named tournament Most Valuable Player.
