Corbin man arrested for trying to rob couple at knifepoint Sunday night

A Corbin man is in jail for allegedly trying to rob a couple at knifepoint Sunday in the parking lot of a local department store.

According to Corbin Police, Kenneth Troy Johnson, 54, approached James Frost at his vehicle in the parking lot of Kmart late Sunday night around 11:30 brandishing a knife and demanded money. A struggle ensued as the men fought over the knife. Frost’s wife Jo assisted and the duo were able to hold off Johnson until officers could arrive.

Corbin Police Officer Steve Meadors and John Hill arrived and were able to subdue Johnson and place him under arrest.

Johnson is charged with first-degree robbery and is lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

Corbin Police Detective Bill Rose is continuing an investigation into the case.
