A Corbin man has been jailed in northern Kentucky for allegedly fondling a five-year-old child while she slept.
Patrick Courtney, 18, was arrested by officers with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Monday and charged with first-degree sexual abuse following the incident. He is being detained in the Boone County Detention Center on $25,000 cash bond.
According to reports, Courtney was at a home in Florence when he was asked by the girl’s mother if he would watch the five-year-old while she left to run errands for about an hour. The next morning, the girl apparently told her mother a man came into her room and touched her during the night.
Authorities say Courtney has admitted to the allegations. He was apparently in town for a family event.
Courtney was arraigned in Boone District Court and has pleaded not guilty to the charge. A preliminary hearing in his case is set for May 10 at 8:30 a.m.
