Early Sunday morning blaze destroys Upper Mulberry home

Date:

Fire completely destroyed a newer model mobile home early Sunday morning in eastern Whitley County.

Fire destroyed this Upper Mulberry Road mobile home early Sunday morning.

About 4:30 a.m., Patterson Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to 210 Upper Mulberry Road off of Louden Road for a fire at a singlewide mobile home.

Patterson Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Pee Jib Paul said the home was a total loss.

“It was fully engulfed when we got the call,” Paul noted.

No one was home, and no one was injured fighting the blaze.

The homeowners were in Gatlinburg on vacation at the time.

“I sure was thankful for that,” Paul added.

The Williamsburg Fire Department was called to provide mutual aid and additional manpower. A total of seven firefighters and three fire trucks responded, and were on the fire scene for about three and one-half hours.

The cause of the blaze hasn’t been determined, but Paul noted that firefighters think the fire might have been electrical in nature.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
