Emily Sue Burke, age 89, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Baptist Health in Corbin.
Emily was born to the late Clarence and Myrtle Shell Sizemore on January 8, 1936, in Chappell, Leslie County, Kentucky. Her life was a tapestry of love, devotion, and faith, woven together with threads of grace, compassion, and an unwavering belief in her savior Jesus Christ.
Emily’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a longtime member of the 17th Street Christian Church in Corbin, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Carmel Burke; a daughter, Vicki Burke Conner; great-granddaughter, Emma McVey; sister, Erlene Disney; and by her brother, Everett Sizemore.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Burke, John Conner, and Whitney McVey; her brother, Harold Dean Sizemore; and her great-grandchildren, Braden, Alyssa, Norah, Adelynn, Zachary, Kylie Sue, Kastiel, Maddie, Joshua, and Xander.
Visitation for Emily Burke will be held on Wednesday, August 6, from 12 noon until 2 pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home at 2 pm on Wednesday, with Rev. Sean Disney and Rev. Mike Hopkins officiating.
Burial will follow in the McHargue Cemetery in Laurel County, Kentucky.
