First ‘Moonbow Nights’ of season set for Saturday

Date:

The moon will be full Saturday night and Corbin Downtown will host its first “Moonbow Nights” of 2017.

Corbin Downtown Director Andy Salmons said the event, now in its fifth year, will return to NIBROC Park with food, fun and music.

The festivities will kick off at 4 p.m. with food and craft vendors and artists selling their wares. In addition to what is being offered at the park, the Corbin Art and Literary League will be hosting its second Gallery Hop of 2017, featuring artists of all disciplines.

League officials said 18 artists are scheduled to be displaying their talents at the park and businesses along Main Street.

At 6 p.m. the music will begin when the band “Buck the Taxidermist” out of Danville takes the stage.

“They are kind of like garage rock,” Salmons said of what to expect from the band.

Salmons said the music will take on a different beat as singer/songwriter Scott Moore steps up to the microphone.

“It is alternative folk music,” Salmons said of Moore.

Salmons said Moonbow Nights will be limited to two events this year because of scheduling conflicts with the Cumberland Valley Cruise In on Main Street and NIBROC.

“Those events need their times,” Salmons said.

Salmons said he feels Moonbow Nights has reached a good place.

“Our format is really nice so now we are just going to let it grow,” Salmons said adding that it is a matter of advertising the dates and the musical acts.

“People know it is happening,” Salmons said. “My job now with it is just to try to book new entertainment.”
