District competition continued among coverage area football teams this week.
In Corbin, the Redhounds were able to make easy work of visiting Whitley County, 49-6. The Hounds now stand at 5-3 on the season, and are a perfect 2-0 against district opponents. The Colonels, meanwhile, drop to 1-7, 0-2.
Next week, Corbin will look to finish out regular season district play with a perfect 3-0 record when they host the Perry County Central Commodores. Whitley County will hope to pick up their first win since week 1 when they host the Harlan County Black Bears.
In Class A action Friday, the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets traveled to Middlesboro and suffered a 22-14 defeat, dropping to 4-3 on the season, 2-1 in district play. They will make the trip to Harlan Independent next week.
Speaking of the Green Dragons, they visited Lynn Camp Friday, falling to the Wildcats by the final score of 34-6. With the win, the Cats improve to 5-3, 1-2 ahead of an encounter next week against visiting Pineville.
