Jaguars Hold Off Bears

Tied at 40-40 at the end of the third quarter, North Laurel outscored the Harlan County Black Bears, 18-11 in the final eight minutes to pull out a 58-51 win in the first-round of the 13th Region Tournament at The Arena in Corbin Thursday night.

The win will send the Jaguars against cross-town rival, South Laurel in Saturday’s semifinal at 4:30.

Senior Adrian Wardrup led the Jaguars with 21 points on 8-of-16 from the field and five-of-five from the line. Chris Cheek and Cody Likins finished the game in double figures with 12 points each.

Jecory Fields led the Black Bears with 16 points while T.J. Green and Kyle Hogue added 15 and 14 points respectively.
