Thanks to a Williamsburg manufacturer hundreds of children got free school supplies recently.

Over 300 children and grandchildren of Jones Plastic & Engineering employees received free school supplies during an Aug. 7 event, which included backpacks, pencil pouches, notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, color pencils, rulers, highlighters, crayons, glue sticks and mini first-aid kits.
The event is an annual program that has been held since 2019 with the exception of the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021.
“Our employees consistently work hard for us. We want to show our appreciation in any way we can. Our employees have let us know how much they appreciate the annual event, and we plan to continue the tradition” said Williamsburg Plant Manager Tom Anspach.
Jones Plastic & Engineering has a history of community and educational institution involvement, such as providing a co-op program for local high school students, and donating welding materials and equipment and an injection molding machine to Whitley County technical and maintenance school. Future plans are to donate a robot for the injection molding machine.
The facility is currently partnered with the Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME), a statewide apprentice program that combines education and workplace experience. Students attend classes two days per week and work on the job three days per week to obtain an Advanced Manufacturing Technician certificate.
