Members of UE Local 728, a chapter of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America that helps maintain operations at the Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, held a rally outside the facility where they work last Wednesday. The rally was in protest of a recent firing of Tiffany Wittenback, one of the union’s chief stewards, which union reps says was done illegally and without any type of justification. “An individual who has worked here for eight years, has an immaculate record, no disciplinary history whatsoever, and they fired her for no reason,” said Kevin White, president of UE Local 728. “The collection of people you see here is a direct response.” White noted that a grievance has been filed and the union is seeking possible legal recourse.
