Man escapes serious injury in I-75 mower mishap

Date:

A day of work nearly turned tragic when man who had just finished mowing grass near Exit 29 on I-75 was hit by a tractor trailer while trying to turn his mower around.

Officials say Josh Craig is lucky to be alive after a semi hit his mower as he crossed the median of the road just south of the exit Thursday morning.

The incident happened on the interstate near the Laurel-Whitley County line. Police say as Craig tried to cross into the northbound lanes on the mower, a semi clipped the mower’s left front tire.

Craig, who is from Bath County, was thrown into the middle of the road along a bridge. Police say he got up, ran to the side of the bridge and hung on the outside of the bridge in an attempt to stay out of traffic until police emergency crews arrived on the scene.

Craig was taken to Baptist Regional Hospital, but that he was not seriously injured.
