William Nantz, who was sentenced in U.S. District Court in London Tuesday afternoon, isn’t your typical felon.
Prior to last year, he had never been arrested. He has no history of violence. He has no history of drug abuse. He has worked all of his adult life up until the day he was arrested on Nov. 19, 2021. Family members and community members wrote letters of support to the court on his behalf and attended his court hearing Tuesday.
William Nantz’s lawyer, Andrew Louis Sparks, told Judge Robert E. Wier that if not for the alleged actions of Nantz’s son, Daniel, who is facing the death penalty if convicted in federal court for murder, then his client probably would have never broken the law.
So how did William Nantz get to the point where he was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison out of a possible 87 month sentence that the judge could have imposed based upon the plea agreement?
