New grant-funded rescue gear now on-site at Cumb. Falls

Thanks to a roughly $7,500 grant from Kentucky Emergency Management, Woodbine Fire and Rescue now has new equipment that will aid in future rescue efforts and Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.

The grant was secured thanks to the efforts of Whitley County Emergency Management Director Jerry Rains, who explained that the new equipment will be stores on-site at the park and should save between 45 minutes to an hour of response time in the case of an emergency.

The equipment includes a new raft, paddles, life jackets, safety helmets and throw bags containing supplies. Park Manager Maggy Monhollen expressed gratitude over the group effort that made this development possible, commenting that it will help to further ensure the safety of those visiting the park.
